Stockholm is easily accessible from all parts of the globe. There are two international airports (Arlanda and Skavsta) located north and south of the city. Stockholm airports welcome flights from more than 50 international airlines, with fantastic connections for travellers connecting through international hubs like London, Dubai, Amsterdam, Paris, and Miami. Stockholm airports are well connected with the city centre.  

Stockholm Arlanda Airport is an international airport located approximately 37 km north of central Stockholm. Arlanda has a range of direct flights from international locations. Stockholm Skavsta airport is located approximately 100 km southwest of central Stockholm and is primarily served by low-cost airlines. We encourage you to explore all the options available.  

Airport Transfers: Arlanda Airport 

Easy access is available from the airport to the city centre via train, bus, taxi and rental cars. Please refer to the Arlanda Airport website for further information (https://www.swedavia.com/arlanda/).  

Arlanda Express Train 
The Arlanda Express is a train service linking Arlanda with Stockholm Central Station. Trains depart Arlanda roughly every 15 minutes, with a travel time to the city center of 18 minutes. The train platform is easily accessible, underneath the arrivals terminal. The ordinary price for a one way ticket is 299 SEK (reduced price if you are below 25 or above 65).  However Arlanda Express offers special rates for congress delegates. Arlanda Airport Coaches (Flygbussarna) 
The Airport Coaches offers a shuttle bus service from Arlanda airport to the Stockholm Central Station. Buses depart every 30 minutes, with a travel time of approximately 50 minutes to central Stockholm. Tickets can be purchased on arrival or online by visiting the Flygbussarna website (https://www.flygbussarna.se/en/). Return tickets cost just under 200 SEK (~20€). 

Taxis 
Numerous taxis options are available from the ground floor level of Arlanda Airport. Central Stockholm is approximately 30 minutes from Arlanda Airport. Prices are variable depending on the time, type of taxi and whether you opt for a set price or a variable rate. As the driver before you depart how much the journey will cost.  

Car Rental 
A range of car rental services are available at Arlanda Airport. Please refer to the Arlanda Airport website for further information (https://www.swedavia.com/arlanda/rental-car/#gref).  

Airport Transfers: Skavsta Airport 

Skavsta Airport is connected to central Stockholm via train, bus, taxi and rental cars, although do keep in mind that this airport is located further away from the city center than Arlanda Airport. Please refer to the Skavsta Airport website for further information (https://www.skavsta.se/en/).  

Skavsta Airport Coaches (Flygbussarna) 
The Airport Coaches offers a shuttle bus service from Skavsta airport to the Stockholm Central Station. Buses depart every 30-45 minutes, with a travel time of approximately 80 minutes to central Stockholm. Tickets can be purchased on arrival or online by visiting the Flygbussarna website (https://www.flygbussarna.se/en/). Return tickets cost just under 200 SEK (~20€). 

Taxis  
Taxis are available near the entrance of the arrivals section of Skavsta Airport. Central Stockholm is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Skavsta Airport. Prices are variable depending on the time, type of taxi and whether you opt for a set price or a variable rate. As the driver before you depart how much the journey will cost.  

Car Rental  
A range of car rental services are available at Arlanda Airport. Please refer to the Arlanda Airport website for further information (https://www.skavsta.se/en/getting-to-and-from/rental-cars/).  

By Train

If you are more interested in taking the scenic route, Stockholm is connected to other European destinations with an efficient and comfortable high-speed rail service. And once you get familiar with the rail network, you can plan follow on journey to locations in the temperate south of Sweden to the rugged beauty of locations in the Arctic Circle.

Getting around in Stockholm  

Stockholm is a pedestrian friendly city with a welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to get around on foot. But if you are looking to move around the city faster, you can take advantage of Stockholm’s integrated bus, metro (Tunnelbana), train and ferry network that makes getting around the city a breeze. More adventurous travellers may opt to hire one of the many electric scooter or bikes that are available for short term rentals.  

Visa

Sweden is member of the Schengen Cooperation (26 countries). A person who gets a visa to travel to Sweden can also travel to the other Schengen member countries. Detailed information about VISA requirements can be found on the Swedish Migration Agency website.
